Super Simple Food Diary

Privacy Policy - Last Updated: June 10, 2026

Introduction

Super Simple Food Diary ("we", "our", or "the app") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information when you use our mobile application.

Information We Collect

Super Simple Food Diary collects and stores the following information locally on your device:

No personally identifiable information (name, email address, phone number, or device identifier) is ever collected by the app.

How We Store Your Information

By default, all data is stored locally on your device only using AsyncStorage (React Native's local storage solution).

Optional Sync: If you choose to enable the sync feature (Settings → Sync), your food entries, day categories, and day markers are also stored on a secure cloud server (Supabase) so they can be shared across your devices. This is entirely opt-in. When sync is enabled:

Whether or not sync is enabled, your data remains under your complete control.

Data Sharing

We do not share, sell, or rent your data to any third parties. If sync is enabled, your entries are stored on Supabase's infrastructure solely to provide the sync service — Supabase does not use your data for advertising or analytics. If sync is not enabled, we have no access to your information whatsoever.

Notifications

Super Simple Food Diary uses local notifications to optionally remind you to log your meals. These notifications:

Notification settings are stored locally on your device alongside your other app data.

Third-Party Services

Super Simple Food Diary does not integrate with any analytics, advertising, or tracking services.

Supabase (optional sync only): If you enable sync, the app uses Supabase to store and synchronise your entries across devices. Supabase is a PostgreSQL-based cloud platform. Data sent to Supabase is limited to your food entries, day categories, day markers, and an anonymous group identifier — no personal information is included. Supabase's privacy policy is available at supabase.com/privacy. Sync is entirely opt-in and can be disabled or wiped at any time.

When sync is not enabled, the app operates completely offline.

Data Retention and Deletion

Local data is stored on your device until you:

If sync is enabled, a copy of your data also exists on Supabase's servers. You can delete all remotely stored data at any time via Settings → Sync → Leave Group → Delete Remote Data. Leaving the group without deleting remote data will preserve it on the server until explicitly removed.

Sync groups that have been inactive for more than 12 months (no sync activity across any device in the group) may have their remotely stored data permanently deleted from our servers in order to comply with GDPR's storage limitation principle.

Children's Privacy

Super Simple Food Diary does not knowingly collect information from children under 13. The app is designed for general use and does not require age verification.

Security

While we implement security best practices in our app's code, please note that the security of data stored locally on your device depends on your device's security settings. We recommend:
